Rural Partners Network Promotes Prosperity for Rural Communities
Overview
The Emanuel County and Twin City Community Network serves Emanuel County in Eastern Georgia, with a population of more than 23,000 residents. Emanuel County boasts recreational opportunities for its residents and visitors with the George L. State Park. The county is home to classic, southern-style food, including Lew’s Barbecue, one of Georgia’s 100 Best. The county’s transportation infrastructure includes the Swainsboro Emanuel County Airport, freight services, rail access, 90 minutes to the port of Savannah and U.S. Route 1, a major north-south U.S. Highway.
Twin City is a city in Emanuel County and named after the two rival towns of Graymont and Summit. The Twin City Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014 and has several significant community landmarks and architectural buildings from the late 19th century.
The Community Network will work in partnership with RPN and local community leaders to address the most pressing needs of the people in Emanuel County including access to affordable housing, childcare services, and healthcare.
