Overview
Southeast Alaska makes up the southern strip of Alaska and is commonly referred as "The Pan Handle". This region includes the Tongass National Forest, the largest national forest in the United States. This region is home to beautiful coastal communities many of which are only accessible by plan or boat. There is a rich cultural heritage of Tribal Nations that have stewarded the land for thousands of years. The communities are committed to protecting their marine habitats and fisheries while also pursuing a growing oyster and kelp industry. Pictures tell the best story when it comes to the expansive coastal landscape and recreational activities.
